Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) is Social Security program designed to assist American workers who have become disabled and are no longer able work full time before the retirement age. SSDI is often known as “workers disability.”

There are several qualifying factors an individual must meet in order to apply for Social Security Disability. The individual must have worked for a certain amount of years and had Social Security taxes taken from the check. In general, applicants generally must have worked at least 5 of the last 10 years in order to qualify.
