RECONSIDERATION APPEAL
If your initial claim is denied, you may appeal your claim to the next stage, which is the known as the Reconsideration Appeal. This second stage allows for North Carolina Disability Determination Services, a state-run agency, where a different examiner reviews the medical evidence and renders another decision. This stage takes approximately 3-6 months. However, there is only a 10% approval rate upon the reconsideration stage, so this tends to make reconsideration claims even more difficult to receive a favorable decision than at the initial stage.
